More Information

In Nara Prefecture, Japan, the last remaining region for mosquito net (kaya) production, these fabrics are carefully woven over time. The "Kaya Fabric Cloth" features prints added in Wakayama Prefecture.

Origins:
The tradition began when female workers at the mosquito net factories started using scraps and defective fabrics to make cloths for their own use, leading to the creation of these unique cloths.

Made from rayon, the "Kaya Fabric Cloth" has 1.3 times the absorbency of ordinary fabrics, making it strong against stains and oils. A quick rinse easily removes dirt. The fabric is also quick-drying, making it hygienic for various uses.

Note: The production of towel initially used a starch coating, hence a stiff texture. It needs to be washed with lukewarm water or water to remove the starch, after which the towel will shrink slightly and become soft, fluffy, and more elastic.

Care Instructions

Note: The production of towel initially used a starch coating, hence a stiff texture. It needs to be washed with lukewarm water or water to remove the starch, after which the towel will shrink slightly and become soft, fluffy, and more elastic.
Use a mesh laundry bag, select cold water and a delicate wash cycle.
Avoid using chlorine bleach detergent.
Initial washing may release some lint; it's advisable to wash separately to prevent lint transfer to other items.
In case of snags, refrain from pulling the threads; instead, trim carefully with scissors.
After washing, air dry in a breezy location, gently reshaping the towel.
